  • Uploaded Documents: We collect and process the PDF files you upload to extract their contents and create semantic search embeddings.
  • Chat History: We store your questions and the AI-generated responses to display your message history and allow you to continue past conversations.
  • Usage Metadata: We collect statistics about your usage (e.g., number of documents uploaded, file sizes, message counts) to manage quotas and billing tiers.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information solely to power and improve PDFSense, including to:

  • Process and index your PDF documents.
  • Perform semantic queries and generate contextual AI responses.
  • Authenticate your identity and secure access to your documents.
  • Enforce subscription limits and tier quotas.

No AI Model Training: We do NOT use your uploaded document content or message history to train or fine-tune public AI models. All document data is passed securely to API providers (like OpenAI or Google Gemini) under standard enterprise/developer API terms, which strictly prohibit training models on API inputs.

4. Data Storage and Security

We prioritize the security of your data:

  • Uploaded PDFs are stored in encrypted cloud object storage
  • Document text extraction and segment embeddings are securely indexed.
  • All API calls and communication between our servers and your browser are encrypted in transit via SSL/TLS (HTTPS).

5. Data Retention and Deletion

You maintain complete control over your data. When you delete a PDF document or delete a chat session from your dashboard, the corresponding source files, vector index records, and database records are immediately and permanently removed from our active systems.

6. Third-Party Services

We collaborate with third-party infrastructure providers to run PDFSense:

  • Clerk: For identity verification and sign-in.
  • Neon: For database management.
  • AI API Providers: For LLM query resolution.

These providers only process data necessary for their specific functionality under strict confidentiality terms.
